P.PADMARAJAN

  • P.Padmarajan is a famous Malayalam film Director,Screenwriter and Writer.
  • He was born on 23 May 1945 at Haripad in Alappuzha district.
  • He was the sixth son of Anantapadmanabhapilla and Nhavarkal Devakiamma in Tundathi.
  • He received his primary education from Mutukulam School.
  • He got Graduated in Chemistry from MG College, Thiruvananthapuram.
  • He also learned Sanskrit from Mutukulam Achuthavarya.
  • In 1965, He joined All India Radio as a program announcer in Thrissur.
  • Later comes the world of cinema.
  • His all-time super hits are Oredath Oru Phylman, Arapatta Kettiya Gramam, Nammuku Parkan Munthirithopukal, Thuvanathumbikal, Moonam Pakkam and Njan Gandharvan.
  • Along with Directors Bharathan and KG George, He started a cinema school for the growth of Malayalam cinema.
  • It was to promote both art cinema and commercial cinema.
  • All the films that Padmarajan has worked with Bharathan are known as “Madhyavarthi Cinema” in the sense that they stand between art cinema and commercial cinema.
  • Padmarajan has written screenplays for 36 films and directed 18 films.
  • He also gave great contributions to Malayalam literature.
  • In 1972,He received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for his work “Nakshatragale Kaval”.
  • A Heart for Rent, Etha Evide Vere, In Search of Hearses, Udakapola, Manjukalam Nota Kuthira, Pratimayum Rajakumariyum were famous novels in Malayalam literature.
  • His wife is Radhalakshmi.
  • Ananthapadmanabhan and Madhavikutty are his children’s.
  • He died on 24 January 1991.
  • The cause of death was cardiac arrest during sleep.
