- A. Ayyappan was an Indian Malayalam language poet of the modern age.
- He is considered an “icon of revolution” in Malayalam poetry.
- Ayyappan was able to create a freshness in poetry by portraying bitter life experiences through unique Bimbayojana.
A WALK THROUGH HIS LIFE
- He was born on 27 October 1949 at Balaramapuram in Thiruvananthapuram district
- He had a very tragic childhood.
- He started writing Poetry at an early age itself.
- After his Education, He became the Publisher and Editor of Aksharam magazine.
- He became active in the Communist Party of India and joined the staff of the party’s News Paper Janyuga.
- He is known for his heart touching poetry and bohemian lifestyle.
- He was known to be a great lover of sunshine (‘veil’ in Malayalam) and an ardent follower of Communism.
- In 2010, he won the Asan Award for Poetry.
- His life is shownin the short film ‘Ithrayum Yathabhaga’ produced by Malayalam Actor Sathyan.
- On 23 October 2010, Ayyappan died in Thiruvananthapuram on 21 October, while he was about to receive the award in Chennai.
