• Rajiv Gandhi was born on 20th August 1944 in Bombay. His mother’s name was Indira Gandhi and father name was Feroz Gandhi.
• He was 3 years old when India become independent in 1947 and his grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru become the first Prime Minister of independent India
• Firstly, he was sent to Welham Boys School in Dehradun for education.Later, he and his younger brother Sanjay Gandhi was sentto Doon School Dehradun.
• After his school days he went to Trinity College Cambridge England and then moveto Imperial college London where he studied mechanical engineering in 1966
• In 1966 he returned back to India at that time mother Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister of India. Biggest dream was to become a pilot. So, he went to Delhi and took pilot leaning from Flying Club
• In 1968 after 3 years of relationship he married Antonio Albina Maino and Italian women later renamed as Sonia Gandhi. They have two children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi
• In 1970 he started working in Indian Airlines as a pilot.
• He was not at all interested in politics. but when he is younger brother Sanjay Gandhi died in a plane crash on 1980, he was forced to join politics. Thus, he contested election from his brother’s seat, Amethi
• In 1981 he become the President of the Indian Youth Congress.
• In 1984 his mother Indira Gandhi was killed by her own Bodyguard
• Thus, the CONGRESS Contested for the LOK SABHA Lection the ELECTION under the leadership of him.CONGRESS won the Election by Receiving 404 SEATS out of 533 SEATS, and he became the “YOUGEST PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA “at the age of 40.

• Also In 1986, he introduced and established lots of A PUBLIC CALL OFFICES” for spreading TELEPHONES in Rural Areas.
• He introduced the age of voting rights as 18 and established “PAN CHAYATI RAJ” “JAWAHAR ROZGAR YOGANA was started by him to give Jobs to the youth of INDIA.

• ON 29TH JULY, 1987, INDO- SRILANKAN PEACE AGREEMENT was SignedBetweenhim and SRILANKAN PRESIDENTJR. JAYAWARDENE.
• on the basis of that AGREEMENT, INDIAN FORCE was Sent to SRI-LANKA to fight against the TAMIL LTTE.
• Regarding the sending of INDIAN FORCE to SRI-LANKA, LTTE LEADER V PRABHAKARAN came to meet him. But RAJEEV GANDH did not change his Decision. This provoked V. PRABHAKARAN, and he waited for an opportunity
• ON 21ST MAY, 1991, RAJEEV GANDHI Reached SRIPERUMBUDUR, near to CHENNAT ha attending a Rally. A woman named THENMOZHI RAJARATNAM [DHANU] Came to him and bent down to touch his Feet and exploded a BOMB placed under her dress.
• Thus, RAJEEV GANDHI was assassinated by theoperation planned by LTTE
• In 1991, as a death Honour, RAJEEV GANDHI was awarded the Country’s Highest Civilian Award “BHARAT RATNA” by the INDIAN GOVERNMENT.
