Synapse – സിനാപ്സ്

A synapse is a junction between two nerve cells, or between a nerve cell and a gland or muscle. It is a specialized junction that allows a signal to pass from one cell to another. The signal is usually an electrical or chemical one, and is transmitted across the synapse when a neurotransmitter is released from the first cell and binds to receptors on the second cell. This binding triggers a cascade of changes in the receiving cell, which can include the generation of an electrical impulse, the release of other neurotransmitters, or the activation of enzymes.
