Different types of synapses – വ്യത്യസ്ത തരം സിനാപ്സുകൾ

1. Chemical synapse: This type of synapse is the most common and involves chemical signaling between two neurons.

2. Electrical synapse: This type of synapse is less common and involves electrical currents passing through gap junctions between the two neurons.

3. Gap junction: This type of synapse is formed when two neurons are connected by gap junctions, which allow ions to flow freely between the two cells.

4. Neuromuscular junction: This type of synapse is found between a neuron and a muscle cell and is responsible for the transmission of signals that cause muscle contraction.

5. Neuromodulatory  synapse: This type of synapse is found between a neuron and a neurotransmitter producing cell, such as a gland or neuron. It is responsible for the release of hormones and neurotransmitters that influence the activity of other neurons.
