Retina and the photoreceptors – റെറ്റിനയും ഫോട്ടോറിസെപ്റ്ററുകളും

The retina is a light-sensitive tissue located at the back of the eye. It is composed of two types of photoreceptor cells, rods and cones, which convert light into electrical signals that are sent to the brain. Photoreceptors are specialized cells found in the eyes that are responsible for converting light into electrical signals that the brain can interpret. They contain photopigments, which absorb incoming light, releasing energy that is then transduced into electrical signals. The most common types of photoreceptors are rods and cones, which are responsible for the perception of colour and black and white vision, respectively.
