The centre of curvature of a curved surface is the point from which the normal to the surface at any point on it appears to emanate. It is the centre of a circle or sphere whose surface intersects the surface at the same point, and this circle or sphere is the osculating sphere at the point. It is also the centre of the curvature of the normal at that point.
