Biogas is a renewable energy source derived from the breakdown of organic matter such as food waste, agricultural waste, and sewage. The organic matter is broken down in an anaerobic digestion process which produces a mixture of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2). This mixture can be used as a fuel for electricity generation, heating, and transportation. Biogas is often seen as an alternative to fossil fuels for energy production.
