Coloured compounds are compounds that are coloured due to the presence of certain ions, atoms, and molecules. The colour is a result of the absorption or reflection of light of certain wavelengths. Examples of coloured compounds include sodium chloride (NaCl), which is white; potassium permanganate (KMnO_4), which is purple; and copper sulfate (CuSO_4), which is blue.
