Various types of plant movements – വിവിധ തരം സസ്യ ചലനങ്ങൾ

  • Phototropism: This is the movement of a plant in response to light. It can be either positive (towards the light source) or negative (away from the light source).
  • Gravitropism: This is the movement of a plant in response to gravity. Roots grow downward and stems grow upward, in response to the pull of gravity.
  • Thigmotropism: This is the movement of a plant in response to touch. Plants may bend towards a support or object that touches them, such as a trellis or stake.
  • Hydrotropism: This is the movement of a plant in response to water. Roots typically grow towards a water source, while stems may bend away from it.
  • Nastic Movements: This is the non-directional movement of a plant in response to environmental conditions, such as humidity or temperature. Examples include the closing of a Venus flytrap or the opening of a morning glory flower.
