Cell growth is the process of increasing the size of a cell, while cell division is the process of dividing a cell into two daughter cells. The two processes are closely related, as cell growth is necessary for a cell to divide. During cell growth, the cell increases in size and volume, and the cell organelles (e.g. nucleus and mitochondria) replicate, preparing the cell for division. Cell division then takes place, resulting in two daughter cells with the same genetic information as the original cell.
