Archimedes’ principle states that an object partially or completely submerged in a fluid is buoyed up by a force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object. In other words, the buoyancy force on an object is equal to the weight of the fluid the object displaces. This principle applies to any type of fluid, including liquids, gases, and even plasmas.
