Binocular vision is the simultaneous use of both eyes to gain visual information about the environment. It is the basis of depth perception, which allows us to perceive the world in three dimensions. Binocular vision also allows us to accurately judge distances, and to accurately track moving objects with our eyes. By combining the images from each eye, binocular vision gives us a more complete view of the world than either eye can provide on its own. Examples of everyday activities that rely on binocular vision include driving, playing sports, reading, and watching movies.
