INTRODUCTION
- Mohanlal Viswanathan (born 21 May 1960), known popularly as Mohanlal, is an Indian actor, producer, playback singer, and distributor who works in Malayalam cinema.
- He has a career spreading over 40 years during which he has acted in more than 300 films. In addition to Malayalam, he has also acted in other regional Indian films.
A WALK THROUGH HIS LIFE
- Mohanlal was born on 21 May 1960 in Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India.
- His parents were Viswanathan Nair and Santhakumari.
- He was the eldest of three children.His younger brother is an actor, producer and distributor, and his sister is a nurse.
- He received his basic education from Government Model School, Thiruvananthapuram and Mahatma Gandhi College in Thiruvananthapuram.
- Mohanlal’s first movie is Thiranottam in 1978 at the age of 18.
- He received his first Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Padmarajan’s T. P. Balagopalan M. A. in 1986.
- He received many other awards including the Filmfare Award for Best Actor (South) for his performance in Udayananu Tharam (2005).
- Mohanlal is also a successful producer and distributor. He has produced several films through his production company “Pranavam Arts International”.
- He has also distributed a number of films, including Drishyam (2013) and Pulimurugan (2016).
- Mohanlal is an active philanthropist and has been associated with a number of charities and social causes.
- He is also an active sportsman and represented the Kerala state in cricket and volleyball.
- He was also a member of the “Kerala Blasters Team” during the inaugural season of the Indian Super League.
