Aristotle is widely recognized as the father of taxonomy, the scientific study of the classification of living organisms. He developed a system for classifying living things that is still used today. Aristotle divided living things into two main groups: plants and animals. He then further divided animals into land and sea creatures. He also divided plants into trees, shrubs, and herbs. He also made observations about the behaviour of animals and plants which laid the groundwork for later scientific discoveries.
