Carl Linnaeus is credited as the father of modern taxonomy. He created the two-part Latin naming system of binomial nomenclature for classifying plants and animals. In 1735, he published the tenth edition of Systema Nature, which established the scientific naming system that is still in use today. This system is more efficient than the previous naming systems and allows for easier identification and classification of plants and animals. He also established the hierarchical classification system of domains, kingdoms, phyla, classes, orders, families, genera, and species.
