Electroplating is a process in which a thin layer of metal is deposited onto the surface of an object. This is usually done for decorative purposes, to improve corrosion resistance, or to improve the electrical conductivity of the object. The process involves passing an electric current through a solution containing ions of the desired metal, which then attach themselves to the object being plated.
