A galvanometer is an electrical measuring instrument used for detecting and measuring small electric currents. It consists of a coil of wire suspended between the poles of a magnet. When an electric current passes through the coil, it produces a torque which causes the coil to rotate. The angle of rotation is proportional to the strength of the current.
