International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is an international organization dedicated to the conservation of nature. It was founded in 1948 and is the world’s first global environmental organization. The organization works to promote sustainable use of natural resources, reduce pollution and protect endangered species. It has over 1,200 members, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, scientific institutions and international corporations. IUCN works in a variety of areas including species conservation, climate change, and sustainable development. It also hosts the IUCN World Conservation Congress, which is held every four years to discuss global conservation issues.
