liquation – ഉരുക്കി വേര്‍തിരിക്കല്‍

Liquation is a refining process used for separating impure metals. It is most commonly used for the refining of lead and its alloys. In this process, a metal is heated in a crucible until its liquid state is attained. Impurities contained in the metal will be more soluble in the liquid state and will thus separate out. The metal is then allowed to cool and solidify, resulting in a purer form of the metal.
