- A SEASON is a part of a year. The SEASON’S are caused by the turn of “EARTH’S Rotational Axis” away or towards the SUN.
- When EARTH’S Axis of Rotation is turned at an angle of 23.5 oc relative to EARTH’S ORBIT AROUND THE SUN,”SEASONS OCCURS”
- For ex : When the NORTH POLE turn towards the SUN, its “SUMMER” in the NORTHERN HEMISPHERE AND when the SOUTH POLE turn towards the SUN, its “WINTER” in the NORTHERN HEMISPHERE.
Most Areas of EARTH have FOUR SEASON in a year.
- SPRING
- SUMMER
- AUTUMN
- WINTER
- In some Areas,there are different number of SEASON.
SEASON IN INDIA
- The SEASON’S in different parts of INDIA vary with ALTITUDE,LATITUDE and distance from the SEA.
- According to the popular “LUNISOLAR HINDU CALENDAR” there are six types of seasons in INDIA.
THEY ARE –
- VASANT RITU – SPRING
- GRISHMA RITU – SUMMER
- VARSHA RITU – MONSOON
- SHARAD RITU – AUTUMN
- HEMANT RITU – PRE-WINTER
- SHISHIR RITU – WINTER
1)SPRING SEASON
- MONTHS : MARCH AND APRIL
- SPRING SEASON is one of the Beautiful Seasons in the Country.
- Average Temperature is 32 oc
- In SPRING SEASONS, DAYS are longer and NIGHTS are Shorter.
- During SPRING SEASONS,”PLANTS SPRING from the GROUND”
- Festivals like HOLI and VASANT PANCHAMI occurs during this SEASON.
2)SUMMER SEASON
- MONTHS : MAY AND JUNE
- SUMMER is the hottest season with Average Temperature of about
38 oc - The Temperature starts rising from the Month of March and reaches its peak in MAY and JUNE.
- During the SUMMER SEASON, the water of Wells, Ponds, Rivers etc starts drying up.
- Like SPRING SEASON, DAYS are longer and NIGHTS are shorter in SUMMER season also.
- During SUMMER SEASON, people usually visits Hills and cold places.
- Watermelon, Mangoes, Cucumber, Ice – Creams are consumed by peoples to get rid off high Temperature.
3)MONSOON SEASON
- MONTH : JULY – AUGUST
- MONSOON SEASON is also known as RAINY SEASON. During this SEASON, Rainfall occurs in most of the areas in INDIA.
- The Average Temperature is 34OC.
- During MONSOON SEASON,DAYS are short and NIGHTS are long
- AGRICULTURE blossoms during this SEASON.When the rainfall is Good, Crop cultivation is also good.
- Trees and plants are covered with new leaves during MONSOON DAYS. Also the Wells, Ponds and rivers gets filled with water.
- Festivals like GANESHCHATURHI, RAKSHABANDHAN etc…are during this SEASON.
4)AUTUMN SEASON
- MONTH : SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER
- AUTUMN SEASON is also known as FALL SEASON because during this SEASON the leaves fall off from trees.
- The Average Temperature is 33oc
- During AUTUMN SEASONS,DAYS and NIGHT have the same length.
- Due to clear sky during this SEASON, we can observe countless stars in the sky.
- The Water of all the Rivers and Ponds becomes clean during the AUTUMN SEASON.
- Festivals like NAVRATRI, DEEPAWALI etc are during this SEASON.
5)PRE-WINTER
- MONTH:NOVEMBER-DECEMBER.
- PRE-WINTER SEASON is the SEASON when it is moderately cold.
- The average Temperature is 27 oc.
