Beloved teachers and dear friends,
I am happy to speak about ‘child labour’ before this noble audience of children, parents and teachers. We, the children are the saplings of the human society. We are to grow healthy, capable and intelligent. We are to be looked after well, by you parents. You parents are to provide us with proper food, good care and right education. But even in the present society we can see many children below the age of fourteen engaged in very hard work under dangerous circumstances. This is child labour. Making children work to earn their livelihood has been termed a crime as per rules. Yet it is seen continued. Why this?
We have to analyse its reasons.
. Most orphans undergo child labour.
. Under certain difficult family circumstances children themselves come forward to work to earn to support their family.
Some times children may lose their parents as a result of natural calamities. They may also be forced to work to survive.
Sometimes children may fall in the clutch of antisocial elements who are engaged in selling children to the agents of child labour.
You see, all these children are the saplings of the society to grow, bloom and raise the beauty of the world. They should not be left to the cruelty of the grown ups. They should be protected. They should be guided to lead a decent life. The ‘Child Helpline’ does it to a certain extend. There does not end the case. The society should become aware of the drawbacks of child labour. They should do the needful to save the children from child labour. Hope you also will share your responsibility in this field.
