THAKAZHI SIVASANKARA PILLAI is popularly known as “THAKAZHI”after his place of birth.
He is an INDIAN Novelist and short story writer. of MALAYALAM literature.
He received the third highest “INDIAN CIVILIAN AWARD PADMA BHUSHAN”, for the work of ‘KAYAR[1978],AND’CHEMMEEN'[1956].
His primary education was at a local school in ‘THAKAZHI’ and passed 7th standard examination from the English school in, AMBALAPUZHA.
He did high school education first ‘VAIKOM’ and later at KARUVATTA,SCHOOL.
After passing 10th standard, he moved to TRIVANDRUM and passed the pleader examination from the government low college, THIRUVANANDDHAPURAM, then he joined “Kerala kesari news as reporter”.
He was attracted by the communist movement and he participated in the functioning of the ‘SHAHITYA PRAVARTHAKA SANGHAM’.
He was the president of the “KERALA SAHITHYA ACADEMY” and a member of the “EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE CENTRAL SAHITYA ACADEMY”.
Thakazhi is described as the “LEGEND OF KUTTANADU”.
