മലയാള കഥാലോകത്തിലെ നവീനതയുടെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രമുഖനായ വക്താവ്, നോവലിസ്റ്റ്, കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ്, രാഷ്ട്രീയചിന്തകന്‍, പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തകന്‍ എന്നിങ്ങനെ പോകുന്നു ഒ.വി.വിജയനുള്ള വിശേഷണങ്ങള്‍. ഓട്ടുപുലാക്കല്‍ വേലുകുട്ടി വിജയന്‍ എന്നു മുഴുവന്‍ പേര്. 1930 ജൂലായ് 2ന് പാലക്കാട് വിളയന്‍ ചാത്തനൂര്‍ എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തില്‍ ജനിച്ചു. പാലക്കാട് വിക്ടോറിയ കോളേജില്‍ നിന്ന് ബിരുദവും മദ്രാസ് പ്രസിഡന്‍സി കോളേജില്‍ നിന്ന് ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സാഹിത്യത്തില്‍ ബിരുദാനന്തരബിരുദവും നേടി. 1953-ല്‍ ആദ്യത്തെ കഥ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു. ആദ്യത്തെ നോവല്‍ ഖസാക്കിന്‍റെ ഇതിഹാസം 1969-ല്‍. ഖസാക്കിന്‍റെ ഇതിഹാസത്തിലൂടെ മലയാള സാഹിത്യശൈലിക്കു …
